Mitsubishi Regional Jet Specs, Interior, Cockpit, and Price

Mitsubishi Regional Jet Specs, Interior, Cockpit, and Price – Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) launched a regional jet in March 2008. Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) has a seating capacity of 70 to 90 passengers. The jet development is estimated to cost Mitsubishi JPY150bn ($ 1.5bn). A third of the funds have been provided by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, under the initiative to maintain the aviation industry.

Mitsubishi MRJ cabin mock-up was exhibited by MHI at the 47th International Paris Air Show. The exhibition was held from June 18 to 24, 2007. In 2008, the MRJ cabin mock-up was exhibited at the Japan International Aerospace exhibition. The aircraft was officially launched at a ceremony held in October 2014. MRJ made its first flight in November 2015 from Nagoya Airport, while flight tests in the US were scheduled for the second quarter of 2016.

Mitsubishi Regional Jet Specs

Mitsubishi is currently developing six variants of the MRJ. The MRJ90STD, MRJ90ER and MRJ90LR models belong to the MRJ 90 class, and the MRJ70STD, MRJ70ER and MRJ70LR belong to the 70 MRJ class. With a seating capacity of 70, the MRJ70 is a smaller jet than the main variant MRJ90, which has a seating capacity. of 90. The standard MRJ90 weighs around 39,600 kg (87,200 lb) but has a better fuel economy of 12%.

JAMCO designed ailerons and spoilers for MRJ. JAMCO and Mitsubishi Aircraft aim to reduce MRJ weight by using carbon fiber composite material technology. MRJ displays the latest technology in the comfort of the cabin. Enhanced aerodynamics help reduce fuel consumption, while composite materials have been used on MRJ flaps and wings.

Parker Aerospace will supply aircraft hydraulic systems. Hamilton Sundstrand will provide all aircraft systems including air management and power units. Hamilton Sundstrand is a subsidiary of United Technologies (UTC).

Assembly suppliers and components of Spirit AeroSystems will design and produce poles (engine suspension systems) for MRJ. Taiwan-based Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) will design and produce steering, abdominal flaps and fairings, elevators and blades.

Mitsubishi Regional Jet Engine

The Mitsubishi MRJ will be equipped with a 13,000 lb and 17,000 lb powered PW1200G fuel nozzle supplied by Woodward Governor, brought by Hamilton Sundstrand. Woodward Governor designs and manufactures energy control systems for aircraft and industrial machinery.

The detailed design of the PurePower PW1000G MRJ engine began in July 2009. Engine flight testing began in April 2012.

Mitsubishi Regional Jet Cabin and Interior

The Mitsubishi MRJ has a four-seat configuration with a wide cabin, slim seats and overhead bin. It has enough chairs and wide aisles with headroom space to store luggage. The new slim chair is made of clean three-dimensional fabric with a thickness of 0.25 inches. Unique fabrics reduce body sweat and pressure, and provide comfort for passengers. Flexible cabin layout is possible on MRJ because the entrances and services are on the front and rear ends of the fuselage.

Mitsubishi MRJ will display a human-centered flight deck. MRJ is equipped with four 14in x 11in LCDs. MRJ's reach capabilities cover all networks throughout the world. With the use of 3D digital data, MRJ is expected to achieve low maintenance costs and high reliability. And computer and flight control avionics are provided by Rockwell Collins.

Mitsubishi Regional Jet Price and Orders

The price of the latest Mitsubishi Regional Jet is around US $ 47 Million. The first order for the twin-engine MRJ was placed by Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways (ANA) on March 28, 2008 for 15 MRJ with more than ten options. Trans States Holdings ordered 100 MRJ, including 50 companies and 50 options in December 2010.

Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation and SkyWest ordered 200 MRJ, including 100 firm orders and 100 options in December 2012. As of November 2015, MHI has received a total of 407 MRJ orders, including 223 company orders. The first shipment of aircraft is scheduled for the second quarter of 2017.
