Boeing 737-800BCF Specs, Payload, Cockpit, and Price

Boeing 737-800BCF Specs, Payload, Cockpit, and Price – The 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighter or commonly abbreviated as 737-800BCF is a cargo transportation aircraft (freighter) developed by Boeing, United States. This aircraft was converted by Boeing from 737-800 Next-Generation aircraft to meet the demand for express cargo transportation on domestic routes. Boeing launched the 737-800BCF program in early 2016 and has obtained certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Civil Aviation Administration of China, and the Russian Federal Air Transportation Agency. The first 737-800BCF aircraft entered service with GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) in April 2018.

Boeing 737-800BCF Specs

The 737-800BCF fuselage is based on the 737 Next-Generation passenger aircraft. These aircraft are equipped with winglets to improve fuel efficiency and flight performance. Boeing ensures that this aircraft has lower operating costs for each tonne payload compared to standard cargo on the 737 series.

The 737-800BCF aircraft has a hydraulically controlled tricycle type landing gear equipped with oleo-pneumatic shock absorbers. The main wheel unit pulls back, while the double nose wheel is pulled forward. Overall 737-800BCF has a length of 39.5 m, wingspan 35.8 m, and height of 12.6 m. The maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of the aircraft is 79,000 kg, while the maximum landing weight is 66,350 kg.

Boeing claims 737-800BCF aircraft can reduce logistics and maintenance costs because it shares many components and systems with 737 Next-Generation passenger aircraft. The high level of similarity with other Boeing passenger fleets ensures an easy pilot transition without delay.

Boeing 737-800BCF Engine and Performance

The 737-800BCF aircraft is powered by two CFM56-7BE turbofan engines. Each engine can provide a maximum thrust of 32,900 lb. The engine combines several improvements to the propulsion system such as blades, propellers and newly optimized rotors. This minimizes fuel and carbon dioxide (CO2) consumption, as well as nitrous oxide (NO) emissions.

With the thrust of the engine, the 737-800BCF aircraft was able to fly with a maximum cruising speed of Mach 0.82 and reach a distance of 3,700 km when fully charged. It can carry fuel loads up to 26,025 l.

The 737-800BCF cockpit accommodates space for pilots and co-pilots. The all-digital cockpit is installed with a public display system (CDS) supplied by Honeywell. The system integrates six liquid crystal screens (LCDs) to display all flight information, including: flight instruments, navigation data, engine parameters, and other flight characteristics.

The 737-800BCF aircraft can be equipped with a head-up display (HUD), a vertical situation display, a global navigation system landing system (GNSS), and a dual flight management system.

Boeing 737-800BCF Cargo Capacity

The 737-800BCF aircraft is capable of carrying up to 23,900 kg of cargo. The volume limit of the aircraft's loading capacity is 20,760 kg. The main deck offers 141.5 m³ of cargo space, while the lower deck provides 43.7 m³ of bulk cargo. The aircraft is equipped with large cargo doors, cargo handling systems, and seating for four staff or passengers. In addition, 737-800BCF also has a capacity for 12 pallet positions that can hold 11 pallets measuring 88 in x 125 in standard and one pallet measuring 88 in x 62 in.

Boeing 737-800BCF Price and Orders

The price of the latest Boeing 737-800BCF is around US $ 106.1 million. Boeing received a contract from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) for the delivery of 15 737-800BCF aircraft in 2016. GECAS received the first aircraft from Boeing as a customer launch of 737-800BCF in April 2018. A contract for 35 additional Boeing 737-800BCF was made in July 2018 .

ASL Aviation Holdings DAC signed an agreement with Boeing for 20 737-800BCF aircraft in June 2019. The agreement includes ten firm orders and ten options. Deliveries are scheduled for 2020.
