Dassault Mirage 2000 Specs, Speed, Cockpit, and Price

Dassault Mirage 2000 Specs, Speed, Cockpit, and Price – Mirage 2000 is a multirole combat fighter from French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation. It has been operating with the French Air Force since 1984, and has been chosen by Abu Dhabi, Egypt, Greece, India, Peru, Qatar, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates. In 2009, more than 600 Mirage 2000 aircraft operated throughout the world.

Mirage 2000 variants operating with the French Air Force are: Mirage 2000C / B single seats and two seats for air defense; Mirage 2000N, two seats, designed for all weather nuclear penetration at low altitudes and very high speeds; Mirage 2000D, an upgraded version of Mirage 2000N, for automatic bombing using conventional and laser-guided ammunition; and Mirage 2000-5, which combines advanced avionics, several new air-to-air and air-to-air shooting procedures using RDY radars and new sensors and control systems.

A contract was signed to increase the 2000 Mirage Indian fleet in July 2011. The upgraded Mirage 2000 combat fighters first made their maiden flight in October 2013. Modernization was intended to increase the Mirage 2000's age to 20 to 25 years.

The on-board equipment and systems were modernized by Dassault and Thales to bring the aircraft to the Mirage 2000-5 standard. The first two upgraded fighter jets, designated as Mirage 2000 I / TI, were sent to IAF in March 2015.

The aircraft delivered reached initial operational capabilities in November 2015 and the final operational configuration design (FOC) was implemented by the IAF in July 2016.

The French Air Force awarded a contract to Dassault in July 2016 for the renovation of 55 of its Mirage 2000D fighters. An agreement was also reached between the two parties during the Dubai Airshow in November 2017 to increase the Mirage 2000-9 fleet. The UAE Armed Forces announce plans to increase their Mirage 2000-9 fleet in November 2017.

Dassault Mirage 2000 Specs

Mirage 2000 has nine hard points for carrying weapons systems: five on the fuselage and two on each wing. The single seat version is also armed with two internally mounted 30mm guns at high speeds.

Air-to-air weapons include multi-targeting MICA air-to-air and combat missiles, and Magic 2 combat missiles, both from MBDA (formed from a merger between Matra BAe Dynamics, EADS Aerospatiale and Alenia Marconi Systems). MICA supports a maximum operating range of 60 km.

The aircraft can carry four MICA missiles, two Magic missiles, and three tanks dropped simultaneously. Mirage 2000-5 can fire MBDA Super 530D missiles or MBDA Sky Flash air-to-air missiles as an alternative to MICA missiles.

Mirage 2000 is also equipped to carry various air and weapon missiles to the surface, including laser-guided bombs. These include MBDA BGL 1000 laser-guided bombs, ASDAL MBDA, MBDA Armat anti-radar missiles, Exocet MBDA AM39 anti-ship missiles, MBDA rocket launchers, Apache MBDA rocket launchers, and take-off weapons, SCALP.

The Mirage 2000-9 aircraft ordered by the United Arab Emirates carried Black Shahine missiles developed by MBDA. MBDA launcher cruise missile Storm Shadow / Scalp EG will arm French Mirage 2000D AF, Greek Mirage 2000-5 and UAE Mirage 2000-9 AF. Shadow Storm was first deployed on British Tornado RAF aircraft during Iraqi Freedom Operation in March 2003. Scalp EG began operations at French AF Mirage 2000D in December 2003.

MBDA was awarded a contract in October 2003 to integrate the medium-range ASMPA air-to-ground missile on the new French Air Force Mirage 2000NK3 aircraft. ASMPA has a tactical nuclear warhead and replaces the ASMP missile, which has been operating at Mirage 2000N since 1988.

The operational evaluation was completed in March 2009 and the new missile entered service at the 2000NK3 Mirage in October 2009. Nuclear warheads were provided by the French Atomic Energy Commission (Commissariat à l 'Energie Atomique).

Mirage 2000 has upgraded digital weapons and navigation systems (WDNS). The aircraft is equipped with Thales Optronics's TV / CT CLDP laser pod design, which provides the ability to fire laser-guided weapons at day and night. A number of Mirage 2000D French Air Force aircraft are equipped with the Damocles laser marking pod with thermal imaging cameras, also from Thales Optronics, under a contract awarded in July 2008.

Dassault Mirage 2000 Radar

Mirage 2000-5 is equipped with a Thales RDY multi-mode doppler radar that provides multi-targeting capabilities in the role of air defense and radar also has a downward / downward firing operation mode. Radar can simultaneously detect up to 24 targets and perform tracks while scanning eight highest priority threats.

The aircraft is equipped with a self-protection suite that is installed internally. Mirage 2000-5 carries an automatic MK2 integrated ICMS countermeasure system from Thales.

The mk2 ICMS combines the receiver and the associated signal processing system in the nose to detect the missile command data link. This system can be linked to new programmable mission planning and a post-mission analysis base system.

Mirage 2000 is equipped with a SNECMA M53-P2 turbofan engine, which gives thrust of 64kN and 98kN with afterburn. Air intake is equipped with a adjustable half-cone shaped central body, which provides a very efficient air pressure shock for air input.

Mirage 2000 can rise at 285m / s. The maximum speed of Mirage 2000 is 2,530 km / h (1,150 miles), while ferry coverage is 3,335 km. The service range and ceiling are 1,550 km and 17,060 m respectively.

Mirage 2000-5 is available as a one-seat or two-seat multirole fighter. This aircraft has direct throttle and stick (HOTAS) control. Mirage 2000-5 combines the Thales VEH 3020 head-up display and five multifunctional advanced pilot system (APSI) tube interfaces.

The combined head-up / head-level display is combined at infinity, and presents data relating to flight control, navigation, target involvement, and gun firing. Sensor data and system management are presented in two colored lateral displays.

Dassault Mirage 2000 Price and Orders

The price of the latest Dassault Mirage 2000 aircraft is US $ 30.6 Million. Orders for 110 Mirage 2000-5 have been made by the French air force (37), Taiwan (60 aircraft), Qatar (12) and Greece. The first Mirage 2000-5 was sent to Taiwan in December 1997. Around 57 2000 Mirage are currently in service with Taiwan.

Greece obtained 15 Mirage 2000-5 mk2 and updated ten Mirage 2000 with the same standard. They first entered service in September 2004 and shipments ended in November 2007. The Mirage 2000 production line was closed in 2007 after the last plane was sent to Greece in November 2007.

United Arab Emirates ordered 20 Mirage 2000-9 and 12 Mirage 2000-9D aircraft, special versions of Mirage 2000-5, which were sent between 2003 and 2007.

In July 2005, the Brazilian Government agreed to purchase 12 Mirage 2000C ex-French Air Force aircraft. Deliveries began in September 2006 and ended in June 2008.

Dassault has received a contract to update the French Air Force Mirage 2000N to the K3 standard. K3 updates include the operation of the MBDA ASMPA nuclear stopping missile and the new Thales Optronics Reco NG reconnaissance pod. In October 2008, three French Air Force Mirage 2000D planes were deployed to Kandahar in Afghanistan to support NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).

India is in discussions with French companies to increase the fleet of 51 Mirage 2000 aircraft operated by the Indian Air Force (IAF) at a cost of around $ 1.9 Billion. In June 2011, it was announced that the Security Cabinet Committee (CCS) would consider increasing the IAF's Mirage 2000.
